Wondering how the Virtual Classroom works? FAQ’s are below.

How will the interactive, on-line class work?

This is a live class using Zoom video conferencing which is exceptionally easy to use. You will be given a URL link upon registration which will take you to the virtual classroom at the time of the event. You will see the other participants on screen as well as the facilitator and her whiteboard. We can do small breakout groups, too! If it’s a bad hair day, you may choose to turn your camera off so that you are not seen by others. ( ;

Will the classes be recorded for replay?

Yes. All classes plus supplemental handouts, tip sheets, and other resources will be available on a Members Page. Access to the Members Page is indefinite, but recordings will expire on Aug. 30 of the following year.

What are the system requirements?

Just about any computer or smartphone will work. As long as it was purchased within the last 15 years (some even longer) you will have no issue. You may also dial in using your phone, with or without camera. For more specific system requirements follow this link.

Can I participate using a mobile device?

Yes. You can use your smartphone with or without video by downloading the Zoom Meetings app and then entering the Meeting Room ID. You can also just dial in with a regular phone for audio only (although I recommend having the ability to see the video, as well as hear the audio.)

Does my computer or phone need a camera to participate?

No. While I hope that most people will participate choose to be seen (because it’s more like a real classroom that way), you do not need to have a camera and even if you do, you can choose not to use it.

I live outside the United States. Can I participate?

Yes, Zoom works globally. You can start or join a meeting from any international location using PC & Mac , Android & iOS , H.323/SIP devices or telephone dial-in.

I really enjoyed having both Lisa and Marcilie as facilitators because they have different styles and experiences and I get to learn from both.

The thing I most appreciate about Roots is the reinforcement of Positive Discipline concepts.

I enjoy Roots because it forces me to think about the tools and I like the role plays.

I learned a lot. I liked the content of the Roots because we covered different topics and went deep. I’m really happy I participated.

[I value Roots because it allows me to set aside] time to devote to being a better parent. There are always helpful reminders in every class.

I appreciate the constant reminder of where I want to be.

I appreciate Roots because it helped me get closer to my daughter.

I learned far more than I thought I would in every class.

I appreciate hearing other parents and their experiences and knowing that I’m not alone! I also appreciate getting new perspectives on old/repeat situations.

I LOVE PD & Roots. Very helpful to recalibrate here. I always “relearn” a tool I had forgotten.

I knew that if I ever had kids I didn't want to do what my parents did. I had all sorts of bad parenting modeled for me. The trouble came when I actually had kids. I didn't know what good things to do instead. So I found myself reacting to bad behavior in unproductive ways. Working with Marcilie and Lisa provided me with a whole new set of actions to try and perspectives to seek. We practiced techniques in class so that it would be easier to do them at home. I learned so much about myself and my children. I keep doing Roots so that I have a monthly reminder and check in because there are always new challenges and Marcilie and Lisa keep updating their information. It's a great way to keep growing.

About Positive Discipline:

f07d4b8d8d0ee474553d6fec6487a63ePositive Discipline (www.positivediscipline.com and www.positivediscipline.org) is a program designed to teach young people to become responsible, resourceful members of their communities. Based on the best selling “Positive Discipline” books by Jane Nelsen and others, it promotes self-discipline: doing the right thing when no one is watching, forcing, or bribing. This happens when we model and teach our children important social and life skills in a manner that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults. Positive Discipline teaches adults to employ kindness and firmness at the same time, and is neither punitive nor permissive.
